Design Director of Méctamo
Founder and Design director of Méctamo. An office of architecture and design based in Lima, Perú. Sergio studied architecture at the Ricardo Palma University in Lima, Peru. After finishing his Maste’s degree in industrial design at the prestigious Scuola Politécnica di design, in Milano, Sergio moved to Barcelona to work for Ricardo Bofill. Afterwards he moved to Beijing to join MAD architects.
Sergio returns to Peru in 2007 to start his job at the head of a multifaceted office in charge of developing creative content in architecture and industrial design format. From here, Sergio has developed all kinds of projects from the design of packaging and furniture for restaurants to the design of hotels and residential buildings. Sergio has recently been selected to curate the first exhibition of Peruvian design abroad.
Peru: New Iconographies is on display until June 2023 at the MADC in San José, Costa Rica.
Sergio understands design as a mean to solve existing or future problems. Emphasizing the importance of understanding the contexts from which these problems come.
