President of National Association of Designers in Portugal
António Lacerda, is a graphic designer, researcher and professor in the Department of Arts, Communication and Design at the University of Algarve, Portugal.
Actually the Dean of the ESEC - School of Education and Communication at the Algarve University, is also the coordinator of the master in communication Design focus on Tourism and Culture.
He received his PhD degree in Communication Design - specialized on Visual Identity for public sector - from University of Lisbon (2011), is a post graduated in Multimedia Technology from Faculty of Enginery at University of Porto (2004), and holds a Bachelor’s degree in communication design from ESAD – Matosinhos (1996).
He was has been a member of Research Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design (CIAUD) at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon since 2007. His research interests focus on visual identity, in particular symbols, logotypes, typography colours, images, photography and all signs of identity that can have a particular role on economical, social and cultural development. He was the founder of the Studio Fuel-Design (Porto) and Studio Designthinking (Faro). He as been working and implement several communication design projects, conferences, workshops, seminars, videomapping, cinema projects and curator of various exhibitions, connecting the fields of communication design and culture, as is the case of the Algarve Design Meeting, with 8 editions implemented. He has published scientific material related to communication design, branding, design management, culture and tourism.
He’s currently the president of the National Association of Designers in Portugal.
