Yacht Designer
My name is Ester Ferlito and I was born on the first of June in 1999 in Rome, a city that with its extraordinary cultural offer, and its different social realities, helped me to expand my horizons and grow both at a human and working level. It is in fact in Rome that I have carried out, and that I still do, a voluntary activity at the Vides Cari.sma that shapes and enriches me constantly.
I am a product designer and, at the moment, I live in the city of La Spezia, where I attend the master’s degree course in Naval and Nautical Design at the University of Genoa. I have always been a lover of the sea and the studies that I am facing give me the opportunity to learn and better understand the nautical sector, in which I would like to work once I finish my university course. To date I can say that I have managed to combine two of my great passions: boating and design.
Thanks to sport, however, I had the opportunity to develop my teamwork skills and to understand the importance of the union to achieve a common goal. For eight years, in fact, I played basketball at a competitive level, coming in Serie B. In 2018 I obtained my scientific high school diploma and, during the penultimate year of school, I spent four months in Tipperary, Ireland, where I had the chance to improve my English and test myself. In the same year, I obtained the Cambridge first B2 certificate.
After choosing to pursue the career of the designer, I enrolled at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" at the Faculty of Architecture, to attend the three-year course in Design, where I had the opportunity to participate in a "Call for ideas" Designed by Arken Group, from which I received an honorary mention for the design of parametric furniture for smart working.
Also during the Triennial, I studied graphic design, exhibit, interior and product design, acquiring the necessary skills to be able to attend the master’s course I am attending. After graduating and working on my thesis entitled "Stable: parametric system of support surfaces for the stability of objects in boats", I tried to enhance my project by participating in the competition "Sea Design Contest 2022" and thus winning the Sea Design Award.
