Chief Executive of Chartered Society of Designers
Trained as a Three-Dimensional Designer, Frank developed his own creative consultancy group to include interior, graphic, branding, advertising, conference, venue, and exhibition design, delivering exhibitions for major global automotive companies at international motor shows. The group developed into a full-service agency including PR for arts organisations and language consultancy.
Drawing on this comprehensive communications and design thinking expertise Frank went on to offer design and management consultancy to various entities before being recruited by the Chartered Society of Designers to deliver strategic change.
During his time as CE of CSD he has designed and developed various service offerings and user experiences including setting up the world’s only Register of Chartered Designers with Royal approval, developing a framework for professional design practice CPSK™ now internationally recognised, and establishing an international educational accreditation programme with 70 plus courses, across 16 institutions delivered in 8 countries. Frank also worked with HRH The Duke of Edinburgh (Prince Philip), becoming the Honorary Secretary and managing the Prince Philip Designers Prize established in 1959 and to introduce the international Prince Philip Student Design Awards of which he is also the Honorary Secretary.
More recently he has further developed his portfolio to include academic consultancy authoring Higher Education design courses, design curatorial services, advising on design education quality and standards drawing on his experience as a member of the Quality Assurance Agency Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies steering committee, and advising national and international professional organisations and academic institutions.
In addition he has developed a joint venture to deliver an annual virtual showcase for art and design graduates to promote their Year End Show – YES. Frank is also a qualified Chartered Director, Fellow of the Institute of Directors, sits on the Senate of the Genesis Initiative for UK SMEs as well as their advisory group to the Bank of England in design sector matters, is the UK Ambassador for the Global Education Policy Network and sits on their strategic committee.
