Yacht Designer & Naval Architect
Javier Casabé was born the 29 of August, 1978 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since he was a child, his passion for sailing and surfing and his love for the sea and design encouraged him to study Naval Architecture and specialized in Yacht Design.
As a first step, he graduated from ORT School as an “Industrial Design Technician” and in 1999 he started his career of Naval Architecture at the “Universidad Nacional de Quilmes” where he graduated in 2006.
Javier’s big experience began in 2005 when he started working at renowned Gino Gandino Yacht Design office.
“I have worked with Gino Gandino for 8 years (2005-2013) and here is where I learned about Italian style, balanced and timeless yacht designs. Also hand sketching, 2d and 3d drawings, engineering and naval architecture of planning motor yachts. With Gandino I have worked 8 years in 50 different projects for shipyards in Argentina, Brazil, Italy, China, Ukraine and USA among others”.
In 2011 while still working with Gino Gandino, Javier opened his own Yacht Design office “Javier Casabe Naval Architect”. During 2011 – 2013 he worked for some private clients and Argentina’s shipyards like Altamar Yachts, for whom Javier Casabé designed the Altamar 52 Flybridge Motor Yacht, and during these years, he still collaborated with Gandino as a partner in some projects for Argentina and China. In 2013 Javier Casabé moves his office to Florianopolis, south of Brazil where he is there until now. His principal Client is Schaefer Yachts, one of the biggest shipyards in South America, renowned worldwide.
At Schaefer Yachts, he cooperates directly with owner and Naval Architect Marcio Luz Schaefer, and leaded some of the most recently successful projects such as the Schaefer 510 series and 510 Pininfarina, the Schaefer 660, the Schaefer 400 Sport among others. Also during these latest years, Javier Casabé had presented some interesting yacht conceptual designs projects done by his office. With some features, that are being use now by many renowned shipyards worldwide.
An example of this, in 2017, he presented the JC45, a project with folding sides, that created a “private beach” while this sides opened at the same level of the swim platform. This project has participated in European contest such as renowned Design et Al contest in 2020.
