Born in Genoa, Italy from Italian mother and Norwegian father, he mixed the two “cultures” through the passion of reading and exploring the world around always with imagination and curiosity.
Architect background, give the basis to be able to afford works in planning, Architecture, interior design and product design. He moved permanently in Shanghai since 2005, establishing his own company, Morph Design and Consulting Shanghai Ltd that worked as team, using both Chinese and international designers.
He has always cultivated interest in art by attending the Art School of Genoa and then to the architecture and design training with a deeper knowledge work activities, studies and travels throughout Europe before earning a Master Degree in Architecture in Genoa with supervisor Giancarlo de Carlo.
Erik studied and attended classes at the University of ETSAB Barcelona, Spain, AHO Oslo, Norway, and finally the prestigious ILAUD forge and a meeting place for world-class professionals such as Renzo Piano, Peter Smithson, Sverre Fehn and others.
Before taking up the profession independently, among the most significant experience of working in Europe, during the academic year are listed collaborations as with Santiago Calatrava (Zurich and Barcelona), the Municipality of Barcelona (IMPU Municipal Institute of Urban Design) charged for the Olympic Games Planning.
He has worked as a professional journalist for a period of 5 years with the daily Corriere Mercantile and the weekly La Gazzetta del Lunedì of Genoa, conduction of Television and radio shows as a commentator, anchorman and presenter. Since the years of study at university he began working as Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Genoa; after graduation, in Udine at Faculty of Engineering as Assistant Professor, than Lecturer and coordinator for post graduate courses.
Assistant Professor for Industrial Design at IUAV Treviso, and finally Assistant Professor for Technology of Architecture at the IUAV, University or Architecture in Venice, where in charged tutoring final thesis. Adjunct Professor at Dongua University Shanghai since 2014, is Chair Professor at Tongji University Shanghai.
He has participated in numerous University research in architecture technologies, Sustainable architecture structures and recovering design of urban suburbs publishing articles in international review journals of architecture. The spirit of research let him fill and sign numerous patents in Italy and abroad, a sign of the continuing and relentless pursuit.
During the time he worked in architecture, different themes, such as those dealing with urban planning projects related to the development of cities, recovery unused industrial areas, recovery of ancient villages, eco-sustainable tourism and economic development of agricultural area, this model is been developed and applied in projects in rural areas of Danzhai, Guizhou in southern China or Hefei Yefu Mountains, Anhui, for example.
In addition to architectural issues, developing plans for individual buildings or urban areas, leaving the work of the past to be mentioned those of recent years in China, plans for hotel in Shanghai, design art parks in Shanghai and Hangzhou, renovations of industrial and suburbs areas in Shanghai, residential buildings in Chongqing and Tianjin, complex of Buddhist temples in Tianjin, as well as numerous interior design opera of various kinds such as clubs, restaurants, showrooms for Italian luxury fashion brand, clothing stores, commercial stores, kindergarten for USA NYKC, included private houses and villas.
As products design he cooperated with many Companies in different industrial fields as: doors, kitchen-ware, indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting, house-ware, sport-ware, flooring and decoration and few other special products using all the available material such as wood, plastic, stones, metals, glass and new composite materials, new technologies and consistent research.
